Barcelona attacker Pedro has expressed his delight with the 4-0 Champions League Group H win over BATE Borisov at Camp Nou on Tuesday and had nothing but positive words for the youngsters who featured.

“That we can leave out so many Champions League winners and still beat BATE 4-0 is an indication that the youth system here is functioning very well. There is a continuous flow of great talent,” Pedro was quoted as saying on the UEFA website.

Head coach Pep Guardiola opted to rest several key players, and hot prospects such as Sergi Roberto, Martin Montoya and Rafinha all got the chance to prove their worth, and Pedro feels that there’s no end to the number of talents coming through at the Catalans.

“I am pleased for the guys who have come through the youth system because they put a lot into the display and produced great football. We have done well in a match which was not easy,” Pedro said.

“We all feel privileged to see it happening this way. The young players come through and learn from the senior guys in the first team. We feel very proud of how well they come through, the attitude they demonstrate, and how well-prepared they are by our youth coaches.”

Barcelona qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League as Group H winners with five victories and a draw. It will resume domestic action on Saturday with the highly-anticipated away game against Real Madrid.
